To address and recognize possible options of teaching proper communication skills, toleration and to develop sensitivity to recognize negative social phenomenons of violence and discrimination by using concrete social and sports examples. Method: Lectures and workshops (using All different – All Equal tool kit) Main topics: Dialogue between different interests; prevention and rehabilitation (dr. Stanislav Pinter) Constructive dialogue is basic and therefore a valuable communicative skill, which is necessary in the society where people with different interests, various religions, and of many truths live. The socio-cultural embeddedness of each individual is testing the limits of tolerance (social and individual) time and again. The situations from sport are used to point out cases of good preventive agenda in harmonization of the interests (athlete – parent – coach – fans), as well as to analyze the failures, which led to violence. Playground as the symbol of life; trust and safety as foundation for tolerance (dr. Milan Hosta) Tolerance allows other to be – it does not question the fact of being – but do not allows any way of being. “No way out of the game” is motto with which we are metaphorically summing up the dynamics of life – we all have the right to play/live. Tolerance presupposes the limit of our games. Safety is the key category which enables the play attitude, and considering our aims we refer to social and emotional safety. Trust is the next virtue we are going to address. Trust is not a rule; it is a basic human relation to others in order to survive in community, which is constantly recreated regarding the given circumstances. By examples from school work the values of safety, trust and tolerance are reflected upon. Confrontation, agresiveness, the art of listening and management of conflict situation (Maja Smrdu) Compromising, balancing common and opposite interests, and conflict resolution requires certain knowledge and empathy for the fellow human being. Teacher as an external observer and authority from who the active participation is sometimes expected, can approach from various positions. When and how to approach? Why listen to all parties, and where to focus attention? Communication is a key to any relation, and that is why the art of communicating (not only verbal) is of high importance at management of relations on any level and of any kind. Group dynamic, competitiveness and violence from the viewpoint of social-psychology (mag. Silvo Koželj) Many patterns of behaviour in sport can be transferred to life, in order to gain a clearer picture of the latter. Competitiveness as a result of testing and comparing with others, and achievement orientation is becoming ever more important even in school. Being trapped within the result oriented social system creates the circumstances where ordinary comparison is driven towards the extreme competition of everyone against all. In such environment aggressiveness becomes desirable. Therefore, in order to understand the individual, we need to understand social dynamics. Workshops: Workshops are focused on development of social sensitivity, understanding of otherness, tolerance and discovering prejudices and stereotypes. The participants learn to deal with conflict situations with the focus on communicative and mediating skills. The same workshops, slightly adapted, can be used in school work. Time schedule: 2 days (8 hours lectures, 8 hours workshops) |
