The Institute of Fair Play and Tolerance in Sport was founded in 2001 by dr. Milan Hosta and is registered as a non-governmental organisation.
Areas of Activity
Education Research Sport & Recreation Culture
Main aims:
- to encourage education through sport (multiculturalism, tolerance, youth empowerment, ecology etc.);
- to stimulate popularisation of sports (promote social, raise environmental awareness as well as public debate through sports);
- to conduct research leading to publications in the area of sport ethics/philosophy/sociology/pedagogy/psychology;
- to lead counselling activities.
The institute:
- Promotes and provides issues within socially responsible role of sport,
- Promotes sport ideals and educates in the spirit of European Citizenship,
- Uses sport as a tool to address social dilemmas (seminars, workshops, round tables etc.),
- Provides formal and non-formal education programmes in multiculturalism, social inclusion, anti-discrimination etc. for the civil society, youth workers, multipliers etc.
- Stimulates the good work of sportspersons, coaches, referees, organizers and other people involved in sport.
Strengths & Potentials
- Experienced team of lecturers, trainers, and youth workers is a guarantee for successful execution of innovative projects and programmes.
- Members of Expert Committee are employed by or otherwise related to institutions like Faculty of Sport, University of Ljubljana, Ministry of Sport and Education, Slovene Olympic Committee etc.
- Strong Expert Committee is very flexible in its research interests, and open to invite other experts for the purpose of Institutes’ aims.
- The institute has initiated various sport projects in Slovenia and has partnered with the Olympic Committee of Slovenia and National Olympic academy. It also collaborates with the Faculty of sport (University of Ljubljana), Ministry of Education and Sport, City of Ljubljana and has successfully contributed to some international projects as partners.
- Established network of personal and institutional contacts in international Olympic movement, sport academia and management.
